We have a brother in Questa that helped shuttle us to the nearby Rio Grande’s Middle Box. He left us there at La Junta, and we hiked down to explore on our pack rafts. This was prior to the Rio Grande area becoming a National Monument. We were the only ones on the river that day, and the solitude and the power of the river still lingers in our every move today. The next day we also biked and rafted the day run on the Chama River.
